AC Services – Repair – Maintenance

An HVAC (heating, ventilation and air-conditioning) system humidifier is an appliance that is used to raise the amount of moisture in the whole house, a single section of a house or a furnace/boiler. Its counterpart is called a dehumidifier which is used to minimize the moisture content inside a house. If you want to moisten your home some more, you may want to know which humidifier options can connect to your existing HVAC unit. They include the following: New Braunfels AC Repair here
Evaporative humidifiers, alternatively called wick or cool mist, evaporative humidifier consists of three main parts including the fan, wick and reservoir. Even so, there is a natural type that uses only two of these parts: the reservoir and the wick. There are also a few other traditional types that are no longer reliable because they become contaminated easily. Now, there are ultrasonic humidifiers that consist of one unit that has a humidifying chamber for outdoor air, an electric and external air supplier unit and a water storage tank. This tank has an inlet perforation in the bottom. The humidifying unit has a water-feeding perforation in the lower section of the compartment that divides the water tank and humidifying chamber. The older humidifier which consists of the wick, fan and reservoir would develop molds as minerals present in water accumulate on the wick over time. The work of the wick is to absorb and sieve water from a reservoir while offering a bigger surface area for evaporation. The work of the fan which is situated directly opposite is to propel a gush of air onto the wick to accelerate moisture evaporation. To avoid a gradual damage to the wick you should replace or rinse it often. If you do not, then it will become difficult for air to penetrate and your humidification efforts will hence be futile.

A steam humidifier or vaporizer is a special type that heats water to the boiling point and enables steam and water into the air. Some people add medicated inhalants to the steam to enhance their safety. The boiler requires more energy to heat the water.

Forced air humidifiers increase the moisture in the air for the entire house. They are used in buildings that have a forced air HVAC furnace in place. These are further grouped into bypass or drum, disc wheel and bypass flow-through styles. Each style is unique and has its pros and cons. The drum style consists of a pipe that conveys water into a reservoir connected to the furnace. The amount of water in the reservoir is leveled by a float valve. It also has a foam pad fixed on a drum and then linked to a tiny motor. This is inexpensive and requires only a change of pads. However, it can encourage the growth of molds if not maintained and assessed regularly. Disc wheel style looks like the drum bypass but it substitutes the foam pad for plastic discs that have tiny grooves on each side. The disc wheel neither demands replacement nor regular checkups. Even though expensive, it also has a larger surface area and is highly efficient. The bypass flow-through uses an electrically-controlled valve and a pipe for carrying water. The air is passed via an aluminum pad often called a biscuit with a matte ceramic coating to enhance its surface area.
